If you’re a fan of the Fast and the Furious franchise or just like action films, Fast Five presents a great combination of heist films, classic action film tropes, and interesting plot development. However, the movie does a great job keeping the audience entertained for the entire ride. Unfortunately, a lot of the first half of the movie becomes irrelevant after some late-film plot twists, which can feel like a waste of time in some regards. The characters are well-written and memorable, with some decent character development along the way. By highlighting the various scenes involving cars, the movie does justice to its roots without feeling like fan-service. Overall, Fast Five delivers an exciting thrill ride that’s far more exciting and adrenaline-filled than any of the previous Fast and the Furious movies. For the most part, it’s a bit by-the-numbers in terms of storytelling, but the intense action and fun set-piece moments more than make up for the derivative plot points. In this way, Fast Five does feel a bit predictable if you’ve seen Ocean’s Eleven or any other heist movie, a lot of the story beats remain the same.Įach character plays a part in the heist, whether it’s the tech guru, muscle, fast-talker, or any combination of the three.
